About me
Dr. Rowdy R. Vela has served PSJA ISD students and community for the past 17 years. He has served in the roles of teacher, department chair, assistant principal intern, assistant principal, and has been a comprehensive high school principal for the last six years. Dr. Vela grew up in the Rio Grande Valley. He received his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas Pan-American. He then went on to pursue his master’s degree in Educational Administration at The University of Texas Pan-American and earned his Ed.D. at Texas A&M University Kingsville. Dr. Vela is an innovative leader who believes in shared leadership amongst students and staff. He is a firm believer in that the heart of a school is about nurturing future leaders in a way which benefits not only the students themselves, but their families, and communities in a way which brings about pride and dignity.
